President and Author of UnveiledValuable Resources Co. is a human resources consulting firm established by myself, Laurie Huspen, after working as a human resources professional specializing in training, development, compensation, recruiting and retention. I graduated with my bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University, in Charleston Illinois with an English major and Pre law minor. I continued my education at National Louis University in Wheaton Illinois and graduated in 1997 with my Master's degree in Human Resources Management and Development. I started my teaching career with College of DuPage in 1997 where I taught business courses with an emphasis in human resources. In each position I held, my responsibilities and accountabilities grew, which meant I grew as a professional. Since I started my career in human resources in 1995, I have always worked well in start-up companies and/or programs. Anything that could be created, developed, rolled out, implemented etc., I had to be part of it. That's one main reason I started my consulting firm.
The idea of human resources consulting became a dream. The dream became a reality shortly after a trip to my dentist's office in 2002. I am just like those of you who don't enjoy being in the dentist's chair, however, that day my dentist visit was life changing.
My dentist, Dr. Bennardo and I were discussing an employment issue and I offered him suggestions. We then discussed some solutions that may benefit him and his practice. When I returned home from my appointment with Dr. Bennardo, I seriously thought about consulting. If consulting meant "start up" for me to create, I had to do it! I was so serious that I spent the next few weeks developing my marketing and business plan and realistically envisioned myself as a sole proprietor/ independent human resources consultant by 2006. However, the plans for consulting were rapidly restructured when the company I worked for terminated my employment the day I returned to work from taking an approved leave of absence/ Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) in 2003.
I have always been passionate about human resources and the more I am educated about the field, the stronger my obligation grows as a professional to further educate others on the purpose and importance of its role. Valuable Resources Co. can offer the most valuable resources you will need to handle an HR situation with an HR solution.
An inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond. www.cff.org.
